Engaged by one of Australia’s top four banks over a lengthy tenure that spanned two decades, Mark’s investment prowess really came to the fore during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC). During that time, he helped high-earning individuals find solutions to sustain multi-faceted portfolios hit hard by slowing property markets. Under Mark’s watch, his clients not only survived that tumultuous time but went on to grow their wealth and prosper in the years that followed.

Not limited to local markets, Mark’s experience also extends offshore. His international appointments include a role as Economist in Port Moresby, a posting to Jakarta to represent one of Australia’s biggest banking institutions, in addition to serving as a Corporate and Commercial Banking specialist in Fiji. Sustaining offshore portfolios in excess of $300million, during a military coup, was just one of a long line of accomplishments that cemented Mark’s position as an industry leader with the qualifications and experience necessary to navigate the most challenging environments.

A natural communicator with an empathy that matches his impressive intellect, it’s not surprising Mark was a powerful international negotiator, seamlessly crossing cultural divides. Today, Mark’s clients enjoy that same unwavering integrity during one-on-one consultations. Likewise, when liaising with extended networks of aligned professionals, Mark represents his clients with a professional ease that’s affable yet formidable.

Personally

At both work and play, Mark is accustomed to going the extra mile to get the job done. To date, he’s conquered literally hundreds of kilometres of challenging terrain around the globe, including the Kokoda Track, the Death March in Borneo and many more arduous treks beyond.

Born in Sydney, Mark has travelled extensively and his own offspring have enjoyed an international education. A firm believer that travel is the passport to learning, Mark and his family have holidayed in France, Italy and Slovenia as well as exploring Asia and parts of the Pacific.

Closer to home, Mark credits his father with instilling in him an innate understanding of small business practices. The Collins name has been synonymous with SMEs since 1880, beginning in building materials and transitioning into retail. Regardless of the entity, the Collins family has always had a calling to champion clients’ interests in a way that offered more than a transaction but rather real compassion and a sense of service. Building upon more than a century of SME expertise drives Mark’s ambition and pride in equal measure.
